TEMPORALIDAD

Arne Quinze and ephemeral architecture

Arne Quinze, a Quinze & Milan Studio designer, created this huge structure for Burning Man festival, which was celebrated in Death Valley. Quinze’s work was the biggest one, and was made with 150 kilometres of wood strips, and was made in approximately 3 weeks.
This structure is a good example of ephemeral architecture, which involves the creation of architecture, not a “solid” one that resists the passage of time, but something special that is creating in a very short time and disappears or changes its location quickly.
For instance, this work was finally burned at the end of the festival.

Modulorbeat – Temporary Buildings

Modulorbeat is the German-based practice of Marc Günnewig and Jan Kampshoff, and is best known for temporary buildings. Their design studio is based in Münster, Germany.

One of these architectural group best known projects is the Kubik in Barcelona.
Kubik is a temporary light-room-installation created to revitalize bare areas by an innovative fusion: a group of tanks illuminated in green, which correspond to the beat of minimal electronic music, create a unique visual experience within an extraordinary object of design. Situated in Parc del Forum, at the sea front end of Avenida Diagonal, it was a club, creating two light spaces separetad by a stair case, in Pink (Kubikita) and in green (cubic).
It’s a temporary structure, a modular building designed to be moved, after it’s been used it’s dismounted and the place is restored to its original state. :(?
But maybe the short period of time, when the building was there, it created a life and consciousness of the area that will never be experienced again.
